It is revealed that Shekhar was having an affair with another woman and was planning to divorce Priti and marry her. However, the woman betrayed him and killed Priti with the help of her husband. Shekhar was unaware of this and thought that Priti was killed by a burglar. The mysterious man who was helping Simran was actually the woman's husband who wanted to expose Shekhar's affair and get him convicted. He also wanted to kill his wife and Shekhar for their betrayal.
